Sit-down wiper or stand-up wiper: A question that hardly anyone asks.

Have you asked yourself today whether you're a sit-down mop or a stand-up mop? Probably not – and that's exactly why it's worth asking.
We only asked ourselves these questions when we started developing a new visual closure for our composting toilet.
Suddenly it dawned on us: What seems like a small detail determines whether a product truly feels natural – or not. This realization showed us how strongly seemingly minor habits influence the user experience.
Two habits that will change everything
In simplified terms, many people can be divided into two groups: those who sit to wipe after using the toilet, and those who stand up and then wipe themselves. Of course, hybrid forms exist – but that's not what we're talking about here.
Crucially, these two habits fundamentally change the entire user experience of a composting toilet. Most automatic privacy doors follow a single, fixed sequence: you stand up, the privacy door closes.
"People don't all use a toilet the same way." For someone who sits down to wipe, the automatic process works perfectly naturally – but for someone who stands to wipe, the privacy screen closes even before they've really finished using the toilet.
Not dramatic – but not ideal either. At this point, we asked ourselves a simple question:
“Why should the user adapt to the toilet – and not the toilet to the user?”
This question became the starting point of our development. It shows how a seemingly small observation can open up a completely new direction – if one is willing to take it seriously.
An observation led to a solution.
While other privacy shutters follow a fixed sequence, visuSHIELD leaves the decision to the user: You determine when the privacy shutter closes.
You can choose whether it reacts when you stand up or only when the toilet lid is closed. Two settings – yet they make a crucial difference for many users. Because:
"Many innovations don't arise from developing more technology, but from carefully observing people."
That's precisely what we at SETRENLO strive for. We observe, listen, and question seemingly self-evident processes. visuSHIELD arose from just such an observation.
This is how you find the right setting for you
The decision is easy once you know your own habits. If you stay seated to wipe, closing the toilet seat when you stand up usually feels completely natural. If, on the other hand, you stand up beforehand, you can set visuSHIELD so that it only reacts when the toilet seat is closed.
You set this once – then you don't think about it again in everyday life. It opens, it closes – exactly when it's right for you. That's precisely our goal:
"A product that behaves so naturally that you no longer consciously perceive it."
Good product development is not about being flashy, but about being seamless.
Products that adapt to people – not the other way around.
Perhaps today you've thought for the first time about whether you're a sit-down wiper or a stand-up wiper – and why this seemingly small habit can make a big difference. Then you might also understand why we invest so much time in seemingly minor details.
"Good products are not created by making people change their behavior. They are created by the product adapting to the person."
This conviction drives us – and visuSHIELD is an example of this.
Because we believe that people should not have to adapt to the product.
But the product for the people.
