Safety instructions

How to use your SETRENLO® separation toilet correctly.

To ensure that you can enjoy your SETRENLO® toilet for many years to come and that everything remains hygienic, safe and odour-free, please observe the following instructions.

1. General use

Only use it for its intended purpose

Your separation toilet is designed for human waste and toilet paper. Please do not dispose of rubbish or other items in the toilet, as this may cause odours and malfunctions. If you wish to use litter, please ensure that none of it can enter the toilet vent. This could significantly impair its function.

Stable installation

Ensure that the toilet is standing on a firm, level surface and is secured appropriately – this is particularly important in vehicles.

Never use without the front panel!

The removable front must be correctly installed before you sit on the toilet. Using the toilet without the front panel can cause permanent damage to the body, which is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

2. Securely fixed – even when the road gets bumpy

The front panel of your SETRENLO® Toilet Deluxe is held in place by six pairs of magnets and a precisely fitting, form-locking frame. The combination of strong holding power and clever geometry ensures that everything stays where it belongs – even if your vehicle brakes hard or is travelling on uneven terrain.

Thanks to its curved shape, the cover also prevents tilting – a small but effective safety feature. In normal driving conditions – even off-road – this ensures stable fixation up to approximately 2g acceleration. This corresponds to a heavy pothole or emergency braking – exactly the situations for which SETRENLO is designed.

So that everything holds what it promises

When inserting the front, please ensure that:

  • the cover is completely in place and straight

  • no dirt or foreign objects interfere with the contact surfaces

  • the magnets close cleanly

A short "click" when it clicks into place is usually the best sign that everything fits.

Important: No hold without a proper fit

If the front panel is not fitted correctly – for example, if it is crooked, not fully locked into place or there are obstacles in the way – it may come loose while driving. This would not only be a shame, but could also cause damage to the body.

Setrenlo e.U. accepts no liability for damage or consequences resulting from an incorrectly fitted cover.

Therefore, our tip: Always check briefly – then it will fit.

3. Electrical system

All SETRENLO® Delux models are equipped with a powerful fan – for hygienic and completely odour-free use. Depending on the model, a pipiGUARD sensor is also installed, which intelligently monitors urine deflection. To ensure that everything works reliably, please note the following points:

Power supply

  • Only operate with 12 V or 24 V direct current

  • Depending on the model, your SETRENLO® toilet requires a 12 V or 24 V power source (DC).

  • Never connect to 230 V!

Direct connection to the normal mains supply (AC voltage) can cause serious damage or a fire hazard.

  • Only use tested power supplies

  • Only use CE-certified power supply units with suitable fuse

Open wiring or DIY solutions are not permitted – safety comes first.

4. Fan operation

The fan should always be running

The fan is a central component of the hygiene concept. Even during short periods of use, it should run continuously – ideally with a continuous power supply. If you do not want to leave it running all the time, you can do so. However, this may result in a slight odour.

Low noise & energy saving

The fan consumes only a few watts – you can operate it around the clock without hesitation. This keeps everything fresh without you smelling or hearing anything.

5. pipiGUARD sensor (if available)

pipiGUARD sensor provides reliable protection

On models with pipiGUARD, the sensor automatically detects when it is time to empty the tank.

The sensor must be free of urine scale

Over time, urine scale can build up in the urine tank and on the sensor. This can impair the function of the sensor. It is therefore important that you follow the instructions for cleaning and preventing urine scale.

6. Maintenance & safety

Before starting work: Disconnect the power supply

Before cleaning the fan or sensor, always disconnect the power supply first – this protects you and the device.

7. Environment, storage & transport

Whether in a van, garden shed or on an expedition: your SETRENLO® toilet is designed for many different locations. To ensure that it works just as reliably there as it does at home, please observe these instructions for storage, temperature and transport.

8. Frost? Please not.

Urine freezes below 0°C

When it freezes outside, the urine in the tank or pipes can freeze. This can lead to cracks, leaks or malfunctions.

Only operate in frost-free conditions

In cold environments (e.g. unheated garage, vehicle in winter), the toilet may only be used if you can safely rule out frost – for example, by using a parking heater.

9. Sun? Yes, but with shade.

No direct sunlight

Direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight can heat up and fade the material, especially in vehicles or tents.

Fans and sensors don't like it too hot

Electronic components should not be operated at temperatures above 50°C for long periods of time. Do not leave the toilet in a closed, heated car for hours on end in summer.

10. Storage when not in use:

Dry, clean, frost-free

If you are not using your SETRENLO® toilet for a while, it is best to store it in a dry place protected from frost. The containers should be clean and empty.

11. Important for you as a user:

Use only as instructed

The separation toilet is intended exclusively for its intended purpose. Improper use, e.g. without the front panel installed or with an unsuitable power source, may result in damage. Such damage is not covered by the warranty.

Observe electrical safety

The connection must only be made to a suitable DC power source (12 V or 24 V DC). Operation with AC power (e.g. 230 V household power) is dangerous and not permitted.

Disposal in accordance with local regulations

Urine and solid waste must be disposed of in a hygienic and environmentally friendly manner. Please inform yourself about the applicable regulations at your location.

Warranty and liability disclaimer

SETRENLO® accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use, modifications to the product, the use of unsuitable cleaning agents or third-party components. The statutory warranty remains unaffected.

CE conformity

All electrical components in SETRENLO® products comply with the applicable safety requirements and bear a CE mark.
